NYPD Disqualification -Notice of Proposed Disqualification – NOPD

The first notice you will receive when you are NYPD disqualified is a Notice of Proposed Disqualification or NOPD.  You will have 30 days to respond to this NOPD.  It is recommended that you consult with an attorney to protect your rights and make the most compelling arguments to increase your chances of getting a reversal of your NYPD disqualification.

I am a successful civil service attorney with more than 18 years of experience.  I have many clients who are currently working as NYPD Police Officers because I helped them win their disqualification appeal. I can help you too.

If you have questions about your Disqualification and would like to schedule a free consultation at my Mineola office, please do not hesitate to call me at 516 248 0040.

NYPD Disqualification

Do not be discouraged by others who were disqualified. Candidates often become disheartened with the process. Jobs that are a life career can have a lengthy and difficult application and investigation process. Law enforcement positions have thorough background checks, as well as medical and psychological exams.

Nonetheless, do not be discouraged if you are disqualified, because candidates before you have succeeded in their appeals.

IT IS CRUCIAL YOU CHECK YOUR EMAIL INBOX FOR NOPD OR NOD FROM NYPD

Candidates may have an overflowing inbox with 25, 50 or 100 emails a day, but if you miss a Notice of Proposed Disqualification (NOPD) email for a NYPD psychological disqualification or a Notice of Disqualification (NOD) and you do not respond within 30 days, your appeal may be dismissed.

Candidates may claim, “I never got it!”, but evidence can be submitted with the day, date and time the email was sent.

The best advice is to check your email inbox or spam folder very carefully EVERY DAY. Failure to do so will prevent you from getting appointed to the job after spending 40-50 hours in applicant processing.

Another tip may be to set up an email filter to have your email provider separate the emails into a separate folder.

Case dismissals are occurring more frequently, so you must pay close attention in order to prevent negative results.

NYPD Psych 2nd Interview

Recently the number of candidates getting their disqualification reversed at the 2nd psych interview has increased.

You must file a NOPD Appeal for a chance at a second interview. If you receive a 2nd interview you are best served to know the issues that were raised in your disqualification and the arguments made by your appeal Mental Health Professional (MHP).

If you receive a NOPD nothing will change unless you take swift action and appeal it. I offer a free consultation in my office if you receive a NOPD.

If you are offered the 2nd interview I will prepare you for the interview. This preparation is included as part of your appeal representation.

RECENT CLIENT REVIEWS AFTER SECOND INTERVIEW:

March 24, 2020 – “Kevin helped me get my disqualification reversed after a second interview.”
Anne L.

March 11, 2020 – “I was disqualified and got a second interview and prepared with Kevin Sheerin in his office and my disqualification was reversed.”
Jeff J.

August, 2020 – “My experience with Mr. Sheerin was great from start to finish. I contacted Mr. Sheerin when I first got my NOPD, and he got to work right away. With his help I was able to thoroughly prepare for my second interview with the NYPD, which was a success.”
Anthony R.

NYPD Psychological Disqualification – 2nd Interview

There has been an increase in NYPD Notice of Proposed Disqualification (NOPD) emails going out to candidates. On a good note, if you receive one of these emails the success rate following second interviews has increased recently at the NYPD Psych Services Units located in Lefrak City in Queens, as well as the alternate location in Brooklyn.

You need to file a Disqualification Appeal in order to get this opportunity. When you receive the email, it will state that you have 30 days to appeal.

I offer free phone and ZOOM consultations for those who have questions about the appeal process and their chances based upon their history and the original psychological interview with the NYPD psychologist. If you do not appeal, your chances of winning an appeal later on in your life after another examination are greatly reduced.

The fact that there is an appeal process shows that hiring agencies can be wrong in judging character and psychological suitability of candidate. The appeal process also shows that a second interview with a senior or reviewing psychologist can find that the reason and/or rationale cited by the original interviewing NYPD psychologist was misplaced or wrong.

Also a reviewing NYPD psychologist can find that the testing scores on instruments such as the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) have been misapplied or misused by the interviewing psychologist.
