NYPD DISQUALIFICATION -FOR ELIGIBLE LIST EXPIRATION CALL DCAS

If you are in the hiring process for a New York City Civil Service job and would like to find out when your eligible list expires:

Dial 212-669-1357
Press 2
Enter your social security number

The DCAS help line will tell you when your list was established and when it will expire. The expiration date is usually 4 years after the list was established or promulgated.

If you received a NYPD Disqualification letter you will probably need one (1) year to process your appeal and hopefully succeed in your disqualification appeal to be appointed to the NYPD. Therefore, you should write to your investigator and request that action be taken immediately on your file to allow yourself sufficient time to appeal if you are disqualified.

I have been a civil service appeals attorney for more than 18 years and have helped many NYPD candidates win their appeal. I can help you too.

If you have questions  and would like to schedule a free consultation at my Mineola office, please do not hesitate to call me at 516 248 0040 to discuss your options.

NYPD Disqualification Appeals Lawyer

Kevin Sheerin (@dqlawyer) | Twitter

If you received a Notice of Proposed Disqualification (NOPD) in your email inbox you can appeal. I offer a free consultation if you receive a NYPD psychological, medical or character/background disqualification. Please call 516-248-3494 or email me at kevin@sheerinlaw.com to arrange for a free consultation. Two factors are crucial in your disqualification appeal. The first is that you follow the appeal process. The second is the facts of your case.

It is vital that you consult with someone experienced in this appeals process. If you attempt to appeal the NOPD on your own, you may miss opportunities to make crucial arguments that could turn the appeal in your favor.

NYPD Disqualification – “Omission of Pertinent Facts”

If you want to be successful in being hired for a New York Civil Service job, especially Law Enforcement jobs such as NYPD, you have to gather all accurate data before filling out your investigation paperwork.

If you were arrested or received a summons, the best policy is to go to the Clerk of the Court in any county in which you were arrested or received a summons and get a Certificate of Disposition.

You should also get a LIFETIME driver’s abstract from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. Go to the DMV website for instructions on how to do this and give yourself a couple of weeks to receive the document.

In addition, if you have any school and/or work disciplinary records, you will need to get all of your records.

Failure to accurately record any of this information on your APD5 will not be excused by the hiring agency, and you will receive a disqualification notice with OMISSION OF PERTINENT FACTS checked off.

Click on the link below to hear further details regarding “Omission of Pertinent Facts”.

Can an Attorney Help You with a NYPD Notice of Proposed Disqualification (NOPD)?

NYPD's Firearms Training Woefully Inadequate, Former Trainers Say - Gothamist

Can you get an attorney to help you with a Notice of Proposed Disqualification (NOPD) from the NYPD? The simple answer is YES.

The NYPD has recently started interviewing psychologically disqualified NYPD Police Officer candidates after they have received their NOPD and after they have a psychologist submit an expert report on their behalf.

Your chances of being successful increase substantially when you have an attorney prepare you for your upcoming NOPD interview. At times these interviews morph into interrogations and preparation from your attorney can assist you in handling harsh questioning.

No one can criticize you for speaking with someone prior to an oral psychological interview.

I would recommend hiring a civil service attorney from the first disqualification. Your attorney will prepare you, and help you get the best results in your appeal.

I am a successful civil service attorney with more than18 years of experience.  I have many clients who are currently working as NYPD Police Officers because I helped them win their disqualification appeal. I can help you too.
