Crucial to Check Your Email Inbox for NOPD and NOD Notices from NYPD

Candidates may have an overflowing inbox with 25, 50 or 100 emails a day. If you miss a Notice of Proposed Disqualification (NOPD) email for a NYPD psychological disqualification or a Notice of Disqualification (NOD), and you do not respond within 30 days, your appeal may be dismissed.

Candidates may claim, “I never got it!”, but evidence can be submitted showing the day, date and time the email was sent.

The best advice is to check your email inbox and spam folder very carefully every day, because failure to do so can prevent you from getting appointed to the job, after spending 40-50 hours in applicant processing.

Another tip may be to set up an email filter to have your email provider separate the emails into a separate folder.

Case dismissals are occurring more frequently, and close attention is required to prevent bad results.

Correctional Officer Psychological Screening

For those interested in a job with the New York State Department of Correctional Services, there is information regarding the psychological screening program for correction officer trainee candidates on line which covers an overview of the screening program, lists the psychological tests administered, and explains the rating system. It also provides a breakdown of the number of people tested, number of disqualifications, number of appeals, and number of disqualifications that were overturned.

The NYPD re-interviews candidates who receive NYPD psychological NOPD emails. This re-interview most often occurs at NYPD Psychological Services in East Elmhurst.

The only way to get a re-interview is by appealing your NYPD psychological NOPD within 30 days.
